There will be an in-class exam next Tuesday on chapters 1 through 7 of HFHTML. Here is a practice exam . An answer key will be posted on Thursday.

Lab, part 1

• Here is the code for chapter 7 from the text's web site.
• Download and unzip this file in your My Documents directory.
• Use the validator to check that the lounge.html file in the lounge directory meets the XHTML 1.0 standard.
• Edit the journal.html file in the journal directory.
• Add/change in the <DOCTYPE> tag at the top of the journal.html file to be strict XHTML.
• Use the validator to check if the page meets the XHTML 1.0 standard.
• Remember that empty elements need to end in  /> instead of >.
• Fix any mistakes (hint: inline elements must be in blocks) and try the validator again.
• When the page validates as strict, add the appropriate W3C verification icon at the bottom of the page.
• FTP your HFHTML_ch07 directory into labs directory on your web site.
• Edit the index.html file on your labs site to have a link to your revised journal.html page.
• Check that Bowen can see your revised journal.html page on your site.

Lab, part 2

• Make the index.html page in the about me directory on your site XHTML 1.0 compliant.
• When you have verified the page, add the appropriate W3C verification icon to the page.
• Check that Bowen can see your verified about me page on your web site.
• Shut down your computer and turn off your display before leaving the lab (always).
